Shop the Look – Nautical Guest Bedroom

How cute is this little guest bedroom?

It’s an easy look to create, even if you are not ready to paint the walls.

The basic of the room is the headboard against the wall color.

1. White upholstered headboards pop off the blue wall.

2. Blue Batik  Bedding.

The Batik bedding brings pattern to the room.  If you do not want to commit to that much pattern – go with solid bedding and patterned pillows.

3.  White Night or Side Table between the beds.

Here we used a white slatted wood table as a nightstand.

4.  White Glass Lamp

5.  Wood Seahorse Cutout.

If you are not into seahorses, go with something else, mermaids, whales, shells anything beachy will work.

You could easily get the same look with white walls, just reverse the colors.  Let a Blue Headboard be the star of the room.  Still the same look without the commitment to a painted wall.

Here are some other ideas for a cute coastal bedroom.

Art Palm Beach

Art Palm Beach was everything I expected and more!

Art Palm Beach Jill Shevlin Design

I had a great time this weekend visiting Art Palm Beach at the Palm Beach Convention Center.  The show exceeded my expectations and then some.  There was a great mix of art and a great varied crowd.  It was busy, but not crazy busy where you bump elbows with every person.  The exhibits were nicely spaced and the traffic patter to go through was great.  My favorite part was the interactive installations.  Here are some images from the show.  Pardon my amateur photography

Tropical Colors

A Colorful Breakfast Nook in a New Home

One of the things that makes this room special is the beautiful bead chandelier – what a statement!  We have one here in the showroom and just about e-v-e-r-y-one loves it.  It’s from a company called Low Country Originals you can visit their site by clicking this LINK.  If you just love this one and want to purchase it you can find it here from Perigold, a great online retailer. This fixture and most of what they have can be customized to create a one-of-a-kind yours only light fixture.  They have some really great and interesting pieces.

If you are looking for something similar here are a few beaded chandeliers in different style, but you can get the same look

It is alway fun to take a look back at work I’ve done in the past.   Not that long ago I received an email from a real estate firm with a video of a home for sale.

Bedrooms are easily one of my favorite spaces to design.  They seem to come together quickly and without much torturous thought or problems involved.  Not Always the case, but the majority of the time they are fun and easy to take care of.  There is the ever-so-slight possibility that because the bedroom always out number the main spaces – I have designed my fair share.  Here is a small mix of various bedrooms I have done over the years.
