Orchid island kitchen
Jill Shevlin Design gave an Orchid Island oceanfront penthouse condo the ultimate kitchen makeover. The dated kitchen originally featured wicker chairs, an old wooden table, and a gray-brown granite backsplash that extended from the countertops. Jill’s completed kitchen renovation resulted in a bright, functional, and stylish space.
At the center of the renovated kitchen is an ravishing wood island with a broad marble countertop and storage drawers — with plenty of space for both food prep and dining. Below the linear suspension light fixture and flanking the island sit three counter stools with a charming reupholstered blue-and-white wave fabric. Beautiful blue-and-white ginger jars are strategically placed throughout the kitchen, establishing a classically-elegant aesthetic.
Prior to the kitchen renovation, stainless steel appliances commandeered the kitchen, with a stainless refrigerator, stacked double ovens, and a wine fridge. The refrigerator doors were updated to match the clean white cabinets, and the stovetop and ovens were replaced with a sleek free-standing range. White subway tile and white marble replaced the backsplash and counters, further opening and brightening the room.
The edge of the kitchen features a sunny, windowed nook with oversized powder blue wingback chairs — a dreamy spot for afternoon tea with a partner. The chairs’ palm-patterned throw pillows seamlessly connect the interior design with the sea of palm tree leaves outside the window.
This gorgeous Orchid Island kitchen renovation resulted in an inviting and airy space ready for cooking and sipping wine.
