Interior Designer, Jill Shevlin, had the pleasure of working with a family to design and build their new custom dream home.

A residence with amazing water views of the Indian River lagoon, this home is located in the highly sought-after gated community of Riomar II. It's ideally situated on the barrier island of Vero Beach in Indian River County.

The initial client meeting was held even before starting construction on the new house. And the design process started long before breaking ground on the new home.

Together, designer and clients modified and worked to create the perfect floor plan, addressing every last detail to create the couple's vision of their dream home. This would be a home designed with family and entertaining in mind. And to that end, the color blue, the couple's favorite color, was used throughout. It was the number one design request for the color scheme.

New construction home builds are a great opportunity to map out all the details on your wish list. Then, to top it off, you can watch your greatest wishes come to life. Though it can be a long and sometimes stressful process, it's ultimately worth it. Enlisting the help of an interior designer will make the journey much easier and more cost-effective. Plus, it produces a stunning end result.

Most new homes are built on vacant lots. However, this was not the case here. An older existing home was purchased due to the highly desirable location. The old home came with a little bit of local history. Dated and long overdue for a renovation, the existing home originally belonged to and was the long-time residence of one of the Vero Beach family-owned real estate firm's founders.

What stood out about the site was the incredible location and water views. The property was an ideal build opportunity for anyone willing to go the distance.

The new home is a traditional West Indies style which is very popular in the area. With just about 6500 square feet of living space, the scale of the house is comfortable and quite livable. A Living Room and Dining room combined into a Great Room. Then, a kitchen and generously sized Family room, a custom office, three guest bedrooms with baths, and the Master Suite. The powder room is tucked nicely below the elegant staircase that is complimented with impeccably detailed custom millwork which is one of the home's many impressive features.
