Why Accessories Matter (And Why Most Rooms Feel “Almost” Done)from a Vero  Beach Interior Designer

Accessories tell the story. Furniture sets the stage. However, finishing pieces create mood, movement, and polish. Moreover, they guide the eye, soften hard lines, and signal intention. I design for living well. Therefore, I choose accessories that look beautiful and work hard.

Today’s hero? A sculptural bubble glass tray—my favorite multi-tasker with serious presence.

  • Shop the ashtray: Bubble Glass Ashtray
  • Why I love it: Weight, clarity, and a hand-made vibe that reads bespoke

1) The Bubble Glass Ashtray: Small, Heavy, and Ridiculously Useful

Yes, it’s an ashtray. Also, it’s a pedestal for tiny luxuries.

  • On a coffee table: Corral matches or a votive. Stack it on a design book for height.

  • At a bar: Catch bottle caps and keep it chic. Pair with a brass opener.

  • By the tub: Hold bath salts, a small soap, or jewelry.

  • On a nightstand: Park earrings at bedtime. Keep it neat and elegant.

  • On a console: Anchor a small strand of beads or a shell. Add light play and texture.

Pro Pairings:

2) Trays, Books, and Boxes: The Three B’s That Do the Heavy Lifting

Because balance matters, I build every surface with these three.

  • Tray: It frames the scene and controls clutter. Choose leather, raffia, or lacquer.

3) Bowls, Beads, and Blooms: Add Movement and Soul

A table needs curve and flow. Also, it needs life.

Beads or a strand: Add casual, coastal energy.

4) Candlelight + Glass = Instant Evening Glam

When the sun dips, glass turns magical. Therefore, lean into glow.

  • Cluster two glass votives and the bubble glass ashtray.

  • Add one taller candle for height.

  • Tuck a match cloche nearby for function and style.

5) Where It Works Best (Room by Room)

  • Living Room: On the coffee table with books and a tray.

  • Bar/Butler’s Pantry: Beside decanters to ground the sparkle.

  • Primary Bath: On a marble ledge with a small votive.

  • Guest Room: On the nightstand with matches and a note card.

  • Entry Console: Near a bowl for keys, but elevated.

Because it’s heavy and compact, it stays put. Consequently, it feels intentional, not fussy.

Quick Styling Recipes (Copy and Paste These)

Materials and Mix: Keep It Collected, Not Cluttered

Use three textures per vignette: glass, wood or stone, and fabric or metal. Also, keep a rhythm: tall, medium, low. Furthermore, leave negative space. Your eye needs to rest.
